FRIDAY -1/17/25 @ LUES
For our iReady Celebration, students that reached their goal or scored green on iReady will receive extra recess Friday, 1/17/25. We will have a colored chalk powder to add into the celebration. We will only put powder on the students that want it, so make sure to send them in clothes that can get dirty, caps/hats for hair, or tell your child not to participate in that part if you do not want them to get chalk on them. There will be balloons, sour candy, and music to go along with extra recess. Congratulations on your child's success!
As we welcome a new year, it's a great time to reflect on some timeless character traits that benefit us at every stage of life. These are wonderful reminders to share and discuss with your loved ones at home. Let’s make this year one of growth and kindness together!

Building Relationships- Consistent attendance allows students to build strong relationships with their teachers and peers. These relationships can provide students with the foundation to grow academically, socially, and emotionally at school.
Monday, Jan. 20th is MLK Jr. Day. Toombs County Schools will be closed for students and staff.
Kudos to Mrs. Paynes 5th grade reading students for their hard work in creating these beautiful books commentating stories they've written and artwork they've drawn and colored. The works collected within the books are about Christmas and the United States. Great job students!
Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is Monday, January 20. School will be closed to observe this special day. Our media center has a display of books for checkout to read about Martin Luther Ming Jr and how he made a difference and had a dream.
Our annual Online SchoolStore begins Monday, Jan 13. Students will receive a lanyard Monday with information on how to begin. Students who send out their email invitations will receive a free "book buddy" stuffed animal slap bracelet. Thank you for supporting our school!
Parents, LUES will be hosting its annual Online SchoolStore where you can shop online with hundreds of merchants. Our school will get up to 50% of proceeds to purchase things for our school and students! Information will go home Monday, January 13, and this is our start day.

Academic Achievement- Regular attendance has a strong correlation with academic success. When students attend school consistently, they have the opportunity to engage in classroom activities, work with their peers, complete assignments, and ask for help, which leads to better academic outcomes.

Please help us keep our students and staff healthy by adhering to these guidelines.
If your child has any of the following within a 24 hour period, please keep them home.....
● A fever over 100.4° F or higher
● Vomiting more than once
● Diarrhea
● A very frequent cough
● Persistent pain (ear, stomach, etc.); and/or
● A widespread rash
Also, remember to bring a written excuse upon returning to school from being out sick.
