Today, September 24, our schools will be conducting scheduled safety practice drills in partnership with local law enforcement and emergency responders. We want to reassure families that there is no threat to our students or staff. These drills are required by state law (HB 147). We perform these checks periodically to practice safety procedures and ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Toombs County Board of Education Approves Reduced Millage Rate of 13.5 Mills:
The Toombs County Board of Education has voted to lower the district’s millage rate from 13.99 to 13.5 mills for the 2026 tax year. Set below the calculated rollback rate of 13.67 mills, this reduction brings property tax savings to local homeowners and property owners.
The adjustment reflects the Board’s continued effort to balance fiscal responsibility with the needs of the district and its students.
“Our annual budget is a balancing act between providing the innovative educational opportunities that prepare our students for the future and keeping the financial impact on taxpayers as low as possible. At this time, the Board saw a clear opportunity to offer taxpayers some welcome relief, and we are glad to deliver that today.” ~ Superintendent Waller
The district will continue to evaluate its financial position each year with a focus on maintaining long-term stability and protecting the programs and services that directly support students.
We appreciate our Board of Education members for their thoughtful leadership and continued commitment to our students, schools, and community.

● The PIG TALES Writing Competition is open to all students in grades
