The Georgia Young Farmers State Convention at Jekyll Island witnessed remarkable participation from the members of the Toombs County chapter, who not only made their presence felt but also garnered recognition and accolades on the prestigious stage.
One of the highlights of the event was the acknowledgement received by several members, each of whom had their moment of honor as they accepted individual awards. Mrs. Kaye Usher was recognized as the Central Region Outstanding Chapter Member for her exceptional dedication and contribution. Jonathan Pittman's recognition as the Central Region Young Ag. Professional highlighted his commitment to the agricultural sector.
A moment of pride came with the acknowledgment of the Farm Family Finalist for the Central Region, which was awarded to Chris Hopkins and his family. Their recognition emphasized their family's significant contribution to the agricultural landscape.
Beth Galloway's success in the Ag Expo category of the photography contest was celebrated with her first-place win, while Brent Galloway's third-place finish in the Stockman’s quiz added to the chapter's accolades.
The Toombs County chapter also gained recognition for its increase in membership, a testament to its growing influence. Chapter members, Chris Hopkins and Clint Sikes of Lasseter, showcased their generosity and support by presenting the new state president with the use of a John Deere tractor throughout his term.
Adding to the roster of achievements, Landon Cowart assumed the role of Central Region Jr. Director. He took on significant responsibilities at the convention and did an incredible job representing the Toombs County chapter.
Mitchell Pittman and Clint Sikes competed in the Farm Business Management contest, contributing to the chapter's overall engagement and participation.
The Toombs County chapter returned home, with not only plaques and awards, but also with newfound knowledge, strengthened relationships, and valuable industry contacts. The success and camaraderie witnessed at the Georgia Young Farmers State Convention served as a testament to the passion and commitment of the Toombs County chapter.
