Certified Employees
Applicants for Certified Teacher and Administrative Job Openings will be considered as positions become available during the school year. The Toombs County Board considers all applicants, but gives first consideration to those qualified employees within the system whose work record is already established. If vacancies occur and are not filled by internal transfers, new applicants are considered based on their qualifications ranging from requirements to be "highly qualified" as determined by federal and state regulations; the degree to which positive performance evaluations are given by current and/or former employers; and, the interview process conducted by the potential employee's immediate supervisor and/or school councils. Under Georgia Code 20-2-211 (a), "All teachers, principals, other certified professional personnel, and other personnel of a local unit of administration shall be employed and assigned by its governing board on the recommendation of its executive office. Minimum qualifications for employment of all personnel may be prescribed by the State Board of Education unless otherwise provided by law."
