English Learner Program

The ELL Language Instruction Program is the state-funded language instruction educational program for eligible English learners (ELs) in grades K-12 in Georgia public schools.

The purpose of the ELL language program is to provide English language development instruction and language support services to identified K-12 English Learners (ELs) in Georgia’s public school systems for the purpose of increasing their English language proficiency and academic achievement.

The goal of the ELL language instruction educational program for EL students is to increase both English language proficiency and academic language proficiency in content-area subject matter.

Toombs County ELL Director

Toombs County ELL:  ELL Students receive English Learner services through a Push-In Delivery Model.  EL students remain in their core academic classes (Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) where they receive content instruction from their content area teacher along with targeted language instruction from an ELL teacher.

ELL teachers and Content area teachers integrate English Development Standards with the Georgia Performance Standards of Excellence to enable ELs to both communicate in English and demonstrate their academic, social, and cultural proficiency.
