GSBA Quality Board Recognition
Toombs County Board of Education Recognized as a "Quality Board" by the Georgia School Board Association
The Toombs County Board of Education has been recognized as a Georgia School Board Association Quality Board. Governance Team Achievement practices were demonstrated by the Toombs County Board to go above and beyond the minimal requirements established for local school boards. Additionally, a revised Strategic Plan was adopted and implemented in the system. The Toombs County Board members will also assist other school boards in meeting the requirements of this program and achieving the status of Quality Board.
In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local school boards. Because the Georgia Board of Education adopted a set of state standards for local boards of education in 2011, GSBA revised its recognition program to reflect the state standards. The Quality Board program includes strict expectations in the following categories: Strategic Planning, the Vision for Public Education in Georgia: Equity and Excellence, Assessment, Superintendent Evaluation, Governance Leadership Team Training Requirements, Accreditation, Coaching by the Governance Leadership Teams, Recognition Renewal, and Renewal Cycle.
