Toombs County FFA Banquet
On Tuesday April 21, 2015 the Toombs County FFA held its annual parent/member banquet. The event began around seven o’clock in the evening and lasted till a little after nine. The evening began with the 2014-2015 officers leading the opening ceremonies with the official FFA script. The blessing was given by treasurer Lindsay Wiggins and a meal of grilled chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese and death by chocolate was served for all in attendance. Attendance was very good and many honors were handed out to various members and supporters of the club. The honors are as follows:
Greenhand Degree Recipients: The greenhand degree is awarded to first year agriculture students who throughout the year show a knowledge of FFA history, participated in FFA Events and who have developed their Supervised Agricultural Experience program.

Star Greenhand Award: This award goes to a first year agriculture student who shows exceptional drive and dedication to FFA and Agriculture. For the first time ever two people were named as Star Greenhands. The recipients were Alana and Alexa Malone.
Chapter Degree Recipients: The chapter degree is awarded to second year agriculture students who are excelling in FFA and Agriculture classes, participate in FFA events, and are well into their Supervised Agricultural Experience programs.

Star Chapter Award: This award goes to a second or third year agriculture student showing exceptional work through their Supervised Agricultural Experience Program and is dedicated to FFA and Agriculture. This year’s recipient was Jackie Swaringim.
State Degree Recipients: The state degree is the highest honor an Agricultural student can receive through the FFA program at the State level. This award is given to third or fourth year students based on their involvement in FFA above the local level, community service and having an outstanding SAE program. Recipients were Brad Sanders and Callie Wilkes.
